Orthopaedic Surgeon Melbourne
MR DOMINIC HANNAN
“I am an Australian Fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon
specialising in surgery of the hip and knee.”
About – MR DOMINIC HANNAN
Why orthopaedic surgery?
“As a surgeon, being able to improve the mobility of a patient, or quality of life is very satisfying. Being able to assist a patient to walk again or compete again in their chosen sporting endeavour is a very rewarding experience.”
I have always been interested in the human body and how it works. Studying medicine gave me a great opportunity to learn more about the intricate movements and workings of the human body. Orthopaedic surgery subsequently became a natural progression given my interest in musculoskeletal anatomy and my lifelong enjoyment of sport and exercise.
Education
I was born in Melbourne and grew up in Mt Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula.
- Attended The Peninsula School and graduated VCE in 1987
- Commenced studying medicine – Monash University, Clayton 1988
- Attended Middle Tennessee State University on a tennis scholarship, studying a Pre-Medicine Program 1991 – 1993
- I returned to Monash University from 1994 to 1999 – Graduated Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (with Honours).
“Outside of Orthopaedics I enjoy raising a young family, cycling, playing tennis, travel and the food and coffee culture Melbourne has to offer.”
